ECF
The main bleaching process for chemical pulp is ECF (elemental chlorine free). ECF bleaching has replaced elemental chlorine bleaching, with sequences containing oxygen, chlorine dioxide and hydrogen peroxide.
We provide the chemicals and help you process the high-quality bleaching products that you need.
ECF bleaching is a core component of Best Available Technology (BAT).
On-site chlorine dioxide supply
Our most comprehensive contribution to a safer environment and increased performance is our on-site, chlorine-dioxide-supply concept. We can shoulder full responsibility for raw material supply, process control and remote monitoring, including full time expertise supervision. You can focus on your core business of pulp production, improve productivity and cut costs. Read more about the Eka Chemicals ClO2-concept
TCF
Another bleaching process for chemical pulp is TCF (totally chlorine-free) where the bleaching chemicals in the sequences are hydrogen peroxide, oxygen and sometimes ozone.
Environment
Treated wastewater from well-managed pulp and paper mills using TCF and ECF bleaching is virtually free of dioxin and toxic substances. The chlorine-containing organic substances resulting from ECF bleaching are similar to substances found in nature, degrade naturally and do not persist in the environment. Research shows they present a negligible environmental risk to aquatic ecosystems.
