Sodium chlorate

Eka Chemicals is the world's largest producer of sodium chlorate, manufacturing sodium chlorate using basically only salt, electricity and water. Through lab analysis, pilot plants and full-scale mill trials, our knowledge of sodium chlorate is continually increasing. Eka Chemicals has plants in Canada, the US, Brazil, Chile, France, Finland, Norway and Sweden.

Eka Onsite chlorine dioxide production offers increased supply security, more predictable pricing and favorable return on investment, through reduced operating costs.

About sodium chlorate
Chemical formula: NaClO3

Sodium chlorate is crucial to environmentally compatible pulp bleaching as the chemical is the essential ingredient in the generation of chlorine dioxide, which, in turn, is the main component in ECF (Elemental Chlorine-Free) bleaching.

Up to 95 percent of all sodium chlorate produced worldwide goes into the pulp and paper industry. With growing environmental concerns, sodium chlorate, as a key ingredient for making chlorine dioxide, is in even greater demand by the industry.
